Sunday, March 14 from Cliff

Conrad and I got up early to play golf at Southwoods Country Club.  We played with the head of security for the course, Retired General Jun Benevides.  He loves to play golf and does so very well despite the fact that he cannot use his right shoulder very well as a result of a gun shot wound he received in the 70’s while on patrol in Mindinao.  He jokes that he is the only person allowed to salute the President with his left hand.  The course was very nice.  The day was hot and sunny.  We had a cart, but three caddies took our clubs on pull carts.  They were very nice and helpful.  They also took care of recording the scores on a card.  I can see where this might help in some of our matches at home.

After golf, Joji took me shopping in Greenfield Mall.  This is an area which many Americans think is like a Flea Market, like Columbus sale, but I likened it more to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul without the classic ambiance of the Bazaar.

At 5 PM I went with Joji and Conrad to the community house in their community for a mass.  They both sing in the choir.  Then after that I went to the 80th Birthday Party of Joji’s uncle, Orlando (Orly) Peña.  At this party many of his children and grandchildren performed a song or dance.  During the video that the family made and presented I learned that Orlando Peña was President of Asia Business Consultants, a PDCP subsidiary, and was designated concurrently Executive Officer of ADFIAP, Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific.  Included in this organization is the Asian Development Bank.  He started this position in 1977 and remained with ADFIAP until 2005.
