Preparing for our exchange

On January 28 the District 7500 GSE team met to work on our presentations that we will make at different Rotary Clubs in District 3830 in Manila, Philippines.  All of our team members are employed by different government entities and their jobs involve providing education to the citizens of various ages and situations.  Tim will describe the history of soil conservation and what we know about soils today so that we can use that information to make good decisions regarding new construction projects and how they are designed to prevent soil erosion.  Ben is will briefly talk about how the US Government is set up and then he will discuss what he does to help citizens understand what the congressman is doing for them in Washington.  Lewis is going to talk about some of the changes in the method of educating students.  Then he will focus on new kinds of communications and how and why he has to teach that to his students in addition to the usual literature lessons.

We are getting very excited about sharing our work experiences with Rotarians in Manila and learning from them some new things that may be help to us.

Ben Giovine's Bio

Ben Giovine graduated from American University with a BA in Print Journalism in 2006. Always having an interest in current events and political affairs, Ben spent his time working for several not-for-profit organizations in Washington, DC before moving back to New Jersey in 2008. Upon moving to New Jersey, Ben quickly became involved with the 2008 Presidential election, specifically attaining a staff position on a congressional race to elect John Adler (NJ-3) to a vacant seat. Due to its competitiveness, the race drew national attention and resulted in the first Democrat congressman to serve the district in over 100 years. After his victory in November, Congressman Adler hired Ben to work as a Field Representative in his Ocean County office located in his hometown of Toms River. Currently, Ben manages the Ocean County office and acts as a liaison to local officials and community organizations. Ben also handles events sponsored by the office and works to build a strong governmental relationship between federal and local entities. In his free time, Ben enjoys attending music concerts of all varieties and tries to squeeze in every last beach day during the summer.
